Halibut Fishing
in Homer, Alaska
on the Beausoleil

“Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.”   Anon.

These guys didn't go home through an alley!

Homer, Alaska is rightfully called “the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World”. Fishing like this is not every day but also not unusual. The average halibut size on the “Beausoleil” the last few seasons has been close to 40 lbs.

“You can always tell a fisherman, but you can't tell him much.” Corey Ford

Two of 'em over 200!

Are you guys trying to tell me you want bigger ones again next time ??

These poor guys didn't do as well as they did last time.

“I never lost a little fish - yes, I am free to say
It was always the biggest fish I caught that got away.”
Eugene Field 1889

Only 29 years old with 50 years of experience reeling 'em in. Mary Howser, a previous owner of Silver Fox Charters.

“All good fishermen stay young until they die, for fishing is the only dream of youth that doth not grow stale with age.” J.W.Muller 1909

Orca

The Orca, or killer whale, is one of many species of marine mammal commonly seen while fishing. Dall porpoise, sea lions, sea otters, and several other species of whales are often encountered. Also seen are seabirds by the thousands.

You never know what you're going to catch out here!

“The Ocean is a wilderness reaching around the globe, wilder than the Bengal Jungle and fuller of monsters.” H.D.Thoreau

This one got hooked outside his razor teeth so we got him all the way to the boat.
